Terms.
Last updated · 22 April 2026
These terms govern your use of the Sahar iOS application and this website (together, "Sahar"). Sahar is operated by Malik Ventures, registered in England. By installing or using Sahar you agree to these terms.
The app
Sahar helps you build a rhythm around the last third of the night — the hours before Fajr. It calculates local prayer and astronomical times, lets you set an intention before sleep, and wakes you with a system alarm.
Prayer times, Islamic dates, and the start of the last third are computed on your device using public astronomical methods. Local religious authority may differ from app-computed values; where that is the case, defer to your local authority. Sahar is a tool, not a ruling.
Religious content
Sahar includes excerpts of the Qur'an and authentic hadith, together with English translations drawn from widely-published public sources (including Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, Abu Dawud, and Jami' at-Tirmidhi). Arabic text is rendered in the KFGQPC HAFS Uthmanic Script (Madinah Mushaf) typeface, included under the terms granted by the King Fahd Glorious Qur'an Printing Complex. These texts are sacred; handle respectfully.
How you may use Sahar
- Personal, non-commercial use on devices you own or control.
- Don't attempt to reverse engineer, copy, or redistribute the app or its content beyond what iOS and applicable law permit.
- Don't use Sahar in a way that infringes anyone's rights or violates the law.
Subscriptions
If Sahar offers paid subscriptions, those are processed by Apple through the App Store and are governed by your standard App Store terms. Prices, trial lengths, and renewal terms are shown inside the app before purchase. You can manage or cancel a subscription at any time in iOS Settings → [your Apple ID] → Subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal; access continues until the end of the current period.
At the time of publishing, Sahar does not charge for its features. Any future introduction of paid features will be announced in-app before taking effect.
Privacy
Your data privacy is covered by our Privacy policy. In short: Sahar is local-first, stores intentions and reflections on your device and in your private iCloud, and does not track you or sell your data.
Disclaimer
Sahar is provided "as is." We take care to compute prayer and astronomical times accurately, but we cannot guarantee error-free operation, especially around ambiguous days (travel across timezones, high-latitude summers, leap days). You are responsible for your own acts of worship and for setting alarms you actually need. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties and liability for incidental or consequential loss.
Changes
We may update these terms as the app evolves. If we make a material change we'll update the date at the top and, if it's meaningful, mention the change in the app or on this site. Continuing to use Sahar after a change means you accept the revised terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be handled in the courts of that jurisdiction.
